AU is a small city with a mild climate and big opportunities. AU’s downtown area includes a variety of restaurants and shops and is within walking distance of the campus. In a 10-minute drive, students can visit a 16-screen movie theatre, a shopping mall, or play 90 holes of golf. A few miles from campus, Chewacla State Park has 696 acres of hiking and camping.
Alabama offers fun day trip options, including relaxing on the beaches of the Gulf Coast or checking out the restaurants, shops, and nightlife in Birmingham.
